Add a watermark to a PDF

Add a watermark to your PDF right in your browser, free and with no limits. Stamp a text (like “CONFIDENTIAL”, “DRAFT” or your copyright notice) or your brand’s logo across every page or just the ones you choose, with whatever color, opacity, size, rotation and position you want: centered diagonally, tiled or in a corner. It’s ideal for marking documents as confidential, protecting drafts, visually signing your files or adding your letterhead. Your PDF is never uploaded to any server: everything happens on your device, with no sign-up, no watermarks of ours and no limits on size or usage.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to any server?

No. The watermark is applied entirely in your browser; your document never leaves your device, and the tool works offline once it has loaded. It’s safe even for confidential documents, which is exactly what marking them is for.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Switch the type to “Image” and upload your logo (PNG with transparency, JPG, WebP…). You can adjust its size, opacity and rotation, and repeat it in a tiled pattern or place it in a corner. For a clean look over your content, a PNG with a transparent background works best.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Choose “A page range” and specify which ones, for example “1-3, 5, 8”. By default, every page in the document is watermarked.

Does the watermark sit above or behind the text?

It’s drawn on top of the content, which is standard for a watermark. To keep it from getting in the way of reading, lower the opacity (15-30% usually strikes a good balance): you’ll see the watermark without it covering the text.

What fonts and characters does the text support?

The text is stamped using the standard Helvetica font, which covers the Latin alphabet and the accented characters used in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Italian. Characters that font can’t render (for example, Chinese, Japanese or Arabic scripts) are skipped and you’ll be notified; for those cases, use an image watermark instead.

Is it free? Are there limits or hidden watermarks?

It’s completely free, with no sign-up and no usage limit. The only watermark is yours: we don’t add one of our own or any signature of ours. Unlike many sites that cap the number of files or the file size and upload your document to their server, here there are no caps and nothing is uploaded.

Can I remove a watermark from a PDF?

This tool adds watermarks; it doesn’t remove them. Removing a watermark embedded in someone else’s PDF isn’t a reliable operation (it’s often baked into the page content) and could affect third-party rights, so we don’t offer it.
