Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded to any server?
No. Cropping happens entirely in your browser and your images never leave your device; the tool works offline once loaded. It is a real difference: most cropping sites upload your photo to their server to process it.
Does cropping lose quality?
It does not rescale the image: the crop is made on the original resolution, so the area you keep retains its exact pixels and its sharpness. There is recompression only if you choose JPEG or WebP output at low quality; with PNG the crop is lossless.
Can I crop to an exact aspect ratio (1:1, 16:9…)?
Yes. Pick an aspect ratio and the selection locks to it: 1:1 for a square profile picture, 16:9 for a cover, 9:16 for a vertical story, 4:3, 3:2, and so on. In “Free” mode you crop to any shape you like.
Can I enter exact dimensions in pixels?
Yes. Besides dragging the selection, you can type the width, the height and the position (X and Y) in pixels for a precise, repeatable crop.
Which image formats does it support?
It opens JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and other formats your browser can display. The output can keep the original format or be converted to PNG (which preserves transparency), JPEG or WebP.
Is cropping the same as resizing?
No. Cropping keeps a piece of the image and discards the rest (it changes the framing); resizing changes the size of the whole image without removing anything. If what you want is to reduce the file size or the dimensions, use the “Compress image” tool.
Is it free? Any limits, account or watermark?
It is completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on uses or size, and we do not add any watermark. It is the exact opposite of many sites: some make you create an account just to crop and others stamp their mark on the result of the free plan. None of that here, and nothing is uploaded.
